Summer Learning Journey day 2

Activity 2: Sporting Heroes

In 2015, a kiwi golfer named Lydia Ko became the youngest woman in the world to reach the #1 ranking.  She was only 17 years old. Many people from here in New Zealand and overseas really admire her and think of her as a modern-day sporting hero. Who is your sporting hero? They can be a famous athlete, or even a member of your family or community. It’s completely up to you.

On your blog tell us about your sporting hero. Who are they? Why are they a hero? Include a photo of them in your blog post.

My sporting hero is Chris Lewis (sort of), he is my hero because he plays my favorite sport. I really like tennis because it's simple and easy to play. I like simple games because they aren't confusing. facts about Chris:

  1. Chris Lewis is a former professional tennis player from New Zealand who reached the 1983 Wimbledon final as an unseeded player. He won three singles titles and achieved a career-high singles ranking of World No. 19 in April 1984.
  2. He was born on the 9th March 1957. He was born in Auckland.

  1. Hi again Thomas,

Jade F here from the Summer Learning Journey team! Great job on completing another task! That is so cool that you play tennis and you have an awesome sports hero, Chris Lewis was a great tennis player!

Did you know that his niece, Jade Lewis is top kiwi tennis player as well? It runs in the family! Do you play in tennis tournaments? When I was in school, I used to play tennis and I did quite well in a few tournaments that I participated in. I came second in the junior tournament in Samoa when I was 11 years old and I was quite proud of that :)

If you would like to receive full points for your activity add in some images of your sports hero, so your blog readers could see what he looks like for visual support!

Looking forward to hearing from you and keep up the good work.

    Cheers,
    Jade F :)
